The inspiration behind North Of The Gum is an appreciation for the natural environment we are so blessed with in Australia.
The design process is driven by an interrogation of the site and client brief to create a building that is highly responsive to its place and the people that use it, with a focus on reusing existing buildings and materials.
We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land where we live and work and pay respect to elders past and present. The practice works on the lands of the Yugambeh and Bundjalung people.
North of The Gum is led by registered Architect Jacob Hough, who has experience working on award-winning residential projects in south east Queensland and Northern New South Wales. Jacob is a regular design tutor at Griffith University Architecture Faculty and the 2018 recipient of the Board Of Architects Prize .
